Treatment

Name of title: Deicida (Undecided)

Genre of sequence: Horror

Duration: 1:30 - 2:30 minutes

Opening sequence brief :
The opening sequence will be based around three main characters, Tim, Emma and Sophia. Tim a single father takes his two daughters on a camping trip in way to bond with his children after their mothers recent death. Emma is quite rebellious towards he father and almost blames him for her mothers death, however we see through the sequence that Tim is trying to his best to support them at this time. The camera cuts from two scenes during the sequence showing that something is approaching them at the camp site. A shots into the sequence an argument breaks out over Emma and Tim, during the commotion they both fail to realise that Sophia decides the wonder off from the camp-site. She is very young therefore should pose as alarming to the audience.

By scene two Emma decides to leave the camp site to get away from her father, as the audience we see how she is struggling with her her mothers death. Sudden Emma hears a scream so she turns to see where it came from, this reveals that the killer is stood just behind her. Luckily her father is calls out to Emma which draws away the killer. Emma follows her father's voice to reveal her sister is bleeding from a head wound, her Dad is convinced that a branch feel on her. Distort Tim tells Emma to call an ambulance, Emma see this a her father not being able to fill the hole that was left by her mother. The camera then pulls back from the scene to reveal the killer stood behind the characters. The screen then cuts to black showing the title of the sequence, it then fades to black.

Camera work/editing:
Our opening sequence will use a range of camera shots used within the horror genre. We will use close up shots on certain characters to portray their emotions at the time , for example when Emma goes into the woods to we will use close up shots to show how the loss of her mother is effecting her. We also will use mid shots to cover other significant parts to the sequence, by having mid shot we are able to shoot shots of characters while having something in the background, like when Sophia decides to leave the camp. One camera shot often used in Horror is shake cam. We will be using this i to create a clear contrast between the peace of the characters and the killer, this will also represent the effect the killer has on his victims, he disrupts the peace.

Editing will be really useful in creating the cut to black at the end and enhance the sound of the killer running through the woods. I will also help to add some non diagetic sound in certain parts of the sequence like when Emma turns around the reveal the killer. This will help enhance the jump scare we are trying to create.

Target Audience:
My target audience is aged around 18-21 year old young adults of mixed gender and from research and statistical feedback we have used the results to create this sequence. Most of them stated that they like the iconic killer and almost enjoy having the killer unique to others in horror films. That why are character will have a mask that is one of a kind. The killer will also be wearing all black to enhance this feel.

Marketing:
Most of our advertisement will be done online as from my questionnaire I learnt that most of my audience like watching films online therefore having the advertisement on social media sites will help help gain more popularity to our performance. We will also be uploading are sequence to YouTube which will be a great benefit due to the websites gain in popularity.

Location:
Our location will be based in Weston Woods to create a real immersion for the audience of the piece and to also create the feeling of the absence of society. As in many my analysis I notice how the victims were often alone or in a place that give the sense of other people or communication. This will help create codes of the horror genre for the audience to give them a sense of familiarity when compared to other horror films.
